Committed to Quality

The Vernier team has always been committed to quality and maintains an ongoing programme of investment in high-tech production and testing equipment while applying the latest quality management systems.

Vernier Springs & Pressings prides itself on the quality of its products and punctual, worldwide delivery of goods.

The acquisition in 1984 of a presswork division, with wire and strip forming facilities, has enabled the company to offer engineering buyers and designers the flexibility of a wider product range with the same quality hallmark.

Approved to IS0 9001 in October 1991, the company quickly realised the benefits of operating a good Quality Management System. Through Vernier’s commitment to continuous improvements, the company was approved to QS9000 in March 1997.

Vernier was only the second spring and presswork company to achieve this award and was one of only 170 companies approved worldwide by the BSI.

Vernier gained approval to ISO/TS 16949 in May 2004, becoming the first UK spring & presswork company to achieve this standard.

Investors in People

To complement their quality system, the company was named an Investor in People in September 1998.

This underlined that the development of Vernier’s employees was imperative to the continued growth of the company.

With our increasing awareness of the environment, Vernier is currently working towards obtaining ISO 14001. The environmental manual is in place and approval should be gained within the next twelve months.

Vernier clearly sees technology as the way forward, and as such has introduced the computer software package, Powerway, to improve Quality operations within the company. Like Vantage, it completely controls the quality system, ensuring that only current issue specifications are used and that all calibrations and validations are up to date.

Full SPC utilisation is undertaken on critical characteristics, backed up with data from statistical packages like Minitab and Cadar.
